Lockdown: Day 8, Day 9 & Day 10 – Chill Out/Dagashi Kashi

Hello everyone. I hope you are all doing well. Apologies for not posting any updates for the past three days. Things have been very normal and quite frankly very boring, so I realized that posting one for each of the past three days would have been monotonous.

The lockdown over here has been going alright for the most part. People have settled in nicely to the routine and everyone is just carrying on and doing the best that they can. COVID-19 has really affected a lot of things, to say the least. A lot of events have been cancelled and so many people have lost or will lose their jobs as a result of this virus. It really has been a time of uncertainty for all of us. I just hope people will be able to recover and put their lives back together once this is all over.

As for me, I am not doing too badly. My mind occasionally gets flooded with so many thoughts and noise but I am learning to push past them. Work has been going okay so far. I just keep hoping I don’t mess up.

Earlier, As I was thinking of what to write in today’s post, I realised that I have not talked about anime on this blog in a long time! I want to remedy this faux pas right now! Some years ago a friend of mine recommended an anime called Dagashi Kashi to me. It is a comedy, slice-of-life anime that follows a boy called Kokonotsu Shikada who wants to be a manga artist, but his father wants him to take over their candy store business that has been in the family for nine generations. One day a young lady, Hotaru Shidare, comes to the candy store to offer Kokonotsu’s father a position at her family’s company, Shidare Corporation, which is a famous candy manufacturer. Mr Shikada refuses her offer, saying that he will only change his mind if Kokonotsu agrees to take over the family’s candy store. Now, Hotaru takes it upon herself to convince Kokonotsu to continue the family tradition.

Dagashi Kashi is funny and can also be a little lewd at times. Each episode is centred around certain types and brands of candy, mostly Japanese candy. The anime is a fun watch if you just want to chill out and relax. It is reminiscent the anime Takunomi, which I wrote about here if you want to check it out as well.

Well, that is all from me. I hope you are all keeping safe and keeping sane during these trying times. Thank you all for reading, and I will see you all in the next blog post.

Kind Regards,
Kojo
